Biography

Cheri Carter joined the SSW faculty in 2004, teaching practice and HBSE courses across the curriculum. She also teaches in the university’s general education program. Beginning in 2009, Dr. Carter’s primary focus became the BSW Program, and in 2010 she became the BSW Program Director. Throughout her SSW tenure she has served on a variety of committees within the school, college, and university. Her interests include curriculum development, as well as the exploration of non-traditional teaching methods. In an effort to better serve students, Dr. Carter regularly participates in intensive workshops offered via Temple University’s Teaching and Learning Center. This fall Dr. Carter attended CSWE’s Annual Program Meeting where she co-facilitated a workshop entitled, The Topic-Focused, Case Study Approach: Developing a New Framework for HBSE Content. Prior to joining the SSW faculty, Dr. Carter worked in various capacities with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and their families.
