Increased demand for accountants is projected through the next decade due to globalization, a growing economy and a more complex tax code. Accountants with a master’s degree and those who have earned earned credentials as Certified Public Accountants have the best career prospects, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Temple’s MAcc program prepares students to successfully enter the field of public accounting and the accounting industry, and has a 96% job placement rate overall, with at least 50% of graduates being placed in Big Four accounting firms.

The majority of MAcc students are working towards becoming CPAs. More long term career prospects may include

The Fox School's Center for Student Professional Development and MAcc program leadership offer a robust professional development experience for MAcc students including office visits, colloquiums and networking opportunities. Master of Accountancy faculty draw on their professional networks within the Big Four, national and regional public accounting firms to identify the ideal career opportunity for each MAcc student. Students are introduced to career resources before they even start their coursework and continue to benefit from individualized services including

  • impression management,
  • one-on-one career counseling,
  • meetings with recruiters, and
  • résumé critique and interview preparation.

Center for Student Professional Development

The Fox Center for Student Professional Development is a comprehensive Fox School of Business resource focused on preparing students for entry into the professional business environment. The center empowers students with lifelong skills and a transformative professional development experience based on market-driven expertise. This is accomplished through workshops, mentoring and internships that complement both in-person and online classroom learning.

The center prepares students for the business world and is a vital link between Fox students and the business community. A variety of services are offered, connecting students with employers, thereby supplying regional employers with a diverse source of talent known for a strong work ethic.

Canvas

CSPD leverages Canvas, Temple’s online learning platform, to provide undergraduate and graduate students with an array of professional development resources.

Students can take interactive modules comprising quizzes, videos, webinars, infographics and checklists to progress towards their professional goals. Materials are customized by degree, and you’ll receive tailored guidance on résumé writing, company and industry research, networking, interviewing, impression management, and more.

Handshake

Handshake is an innovative recruitment and career management platform for Temple students. Through the Handshake portal, you can easily find information about internships, job opportunities and on-campus recruiting events. Apply for positions, explore employers, and register for career fairs and workshops all in one place.

Business Communications Center

The Business Communications Center aims to help Fox students become better communicators. Clear, concise and compelling communication is essential for professional success in the business world. The center provides one-on-one tutoring to help students with course assignments, presentations, scholarship essays and cover letters.

Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner

Bloomberg for Education recognizes the Fox School of Business as an Experiential Learning Partner. The Bloomberg program partners with Fox to provide innovative and rigorous curricula for students, incorporating experiential learning through the Bloomberg Terminal. Fox offers courses that build students’ financial market awareness and career readiness, and by using the Bloomberg Terminal, students can examine corporate fundamentals, assess relative value and understand corporate strategy in play.

Through the program, students gain insight into thousands of companies in more than 130 industries and understand the driving forces behind the movements in major asset classes, credit metrics, economics and government policy. The Bloomberg Terminal at Fox brings together data, news and analytics to provide a complete understanding of today’s companies, industries and markets.
