Residency Programs
Increasingly, students who graduate with Doctor of Pharmacy degrees pursue postgraduate residency programs that further prepare them for clinical practice. Many positions in academia and clinical pharmacy have a minimum requirement of a post-graduate first-year residency (PGY-1). Post-graduate second-year (PGY-2) residencies give Temple University professionals the opportunity to specialize in a particular clinical area.
Temple Health, Temple's affiliated system of hospitals, clinics, and physician offices, hosts five PGY-1 residents per year and a PGY-2 residency in solid organ transplant. Along with Temple Health staff, Temple School of Pharmacy faculty serve as mentors for these programs.
In affiliation with Temple Health, Temple School of Pharmacy hosts four PGY-2 residents per year in ambulatory care, critical care, infectious diseases and internal medicine. These programs are accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and are available to PharmD graduates.
To apply, submit the standard application materials through Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service.
