Scholarships and Financial Aid

Graduate students are eligible for financial assistance from external, federal and university sources. Additionally, Temple students in graduate and professional programs can participate in internships, externships, assistantships and fellowships to receive further financial support. Interested applicants should consult with advisors or department chairs about the application process for their desired position.

Department Scholarships

The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication offers scholarships to competitive students who study full time in our Master of Journalism, Master of Arts in Media Studies and Production and the online Master of Science in Communication Management. Steinman Scholarship for Graduate Students

The Steinman Scholarship is open to students entering the Master of Journalism program who have a demonstrated professional or educational background in business. It is also open to those interested in pursuing a career in business or financial journalism.

The Steinman Scholarship also offers incoming graduate recipients the opportunity to pursue a business reporting fellowship at LNP in Lancaster, Pennsylvania following completion of their program. Learn more about applying for the Steinman Scholarship.

Truth, Health and Environment Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for students who demonstrate interest in investigative reporting on health or environmental issues. Find out more about applying for the Truth, Health and Environment Endowed Scholarship.

Federal Financial Aid

Federal Stafford Loans

Applying for federal Stafford loans requires completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). At Temple University, unsubsidized Stafford loans are available to full-time graduate students up to a maximum amount of $20,500 annually.

Federal Work-study

Eligibility for the Federal Work-study Program is based on the applicant’s need as determined by the information on the applicant’s FAFSA. In addition, students must be enrolled at least half time and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students are paid biweekly for hours worked.
