College of Science and Technology Scholarships

There are more than 20 scholarships available for College of Science and Technology full-time undergraduate students in all degree programs. Eligibility is limited to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. These scholarships include the following opportunities.

  • The Chachkin-Kean Fund for Undergraduate Research provides financial support for students who participate in the College of Science and Technology’s Undergraduate Research Program, assisting with faculty research in the student’s major field of study.
  • The College of Science and Technology Alumni Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014 by the college’s Alumni Board to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence.
  • The Jules J. Sheldon, DDS, Endowed Scholarship was established in 2010 by a bequest from Jules J. Sheldon to provide scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Science and Technology.
  • The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Award for Academic Achievement is awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence within the Alliance for Minority Participation program.
  • The Robert and Rita Cook Science Scholars supports exceptional incoming College of Science and Technology students with paid summer research and academic and professional development.
  • The Seda Tarzian Scholarship, established in 2006 by Seda Tarzian, supports academically talented students majoring in the sciences, with preference given to those who experience socioeconomic or educational disadvantages.

Department Scholarships

Mathematics

Mathematics Department Scholarships

Scholarships available to undergraduate students in Mathematics programs include the following opportunities.

  • The David Tepper, CST ’64, and Elaine Kowalewski Scholarship in Mathematics provides funding for rising sophomores or juniors in good academic standing.
  • The Florence R. Berg Endowed Scholarship is granted to students enrolled in the College of Science and Technology who are conducting summer research.
  • The Francis James and Helen C. Sholomskas Progress to Excellence Scholarship is awarded to juniors or seniors majoring in Mathematics.
  • The John A. Poole Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of John A. Poole, professor of chemistry from 1964 to 1999, goes to juniors or seniors majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics who demonstrate academic excellence.
Computer & Information Sciences

Computer & Information Sciences Department Scholarships

Scholarships available to undergraduate students in the Computer and Information Sciences Department include the following opportunities.

  • The Computer and Information Sciences Junior Scholarship is an annual fund that awards scholarships to juniors in the Computer and Information Sciences Department who demonstrate outstanding performance.
  • The Petchon Family Computer and Information Science Endowed Scholarship is awarded to undergraduates who have demonstrated academic excellence in Computer and Information Science.
  • The Scott Hibbs Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship, established by Christopher Gali, CST ’94, is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Computer and Information Science who have demonstrated academic achievement.

TUteach Scholarships & Awards

Students pursuing teaching certification through TUteach programs in the College of Science and Technology can also take advantage of the following awards and scholarships.

  • The Alexander von Humboldt Science Education Award is given to a TUteach student who has inspired others to learn science. The award was established in honor of Alexander von Humboldt, who created the way we understand nature today.
  • Established in 2012, the Donald and Annette Baird Family Award provides awards to academically excellent junior or senior students in the TUteach program who have a commitment and an ability to teach, a demonstrated dedication to community service, and strong moral character.
  • The Morna Brennen Memorial Scholarship, established by Kenneth R. Brennen, CST ’62, ’66, supports CST students who are pursuing degrees in both mathematics or science and teaching certification through the TUteach program.
