The BSEd in Secondary Education: Social Studies Education is a highly focused course of study aimed at placing graduates in high schools or other institution of secondary education. However, the degree also equips them to work in

  • government,
  • grant writing,
  • human resources,
  • marketing,
  • nonprofit organizations,
  • technical writing,
  • training and development,
  • youth or afterschool programs and many other areas.

Fieldwork

All College of Education and Human Development majors must complete field experiences to practice working with children, adolescents or adults in classrooms, training centers or community organizations.

Education majors will observe a professional teacher’s instructional and classroom management methods. The Office of Field Placement helps students find appropriate classroom assignments.
