Careers, Internships & Opportunities

Internships & Opportunities

The College of Liberal Arts encourages undergraduate students to participate in internships to prepare for their future careers. Students can apply the core skills they learn in their degree programs⸺how to think critically, solve problems and communicate effectively⸺in real-world professional settings.

Students in the Spanish BA program may earn up to three credits in Spanish 4885 through approved internship placements at several organizations in the Philadelphia region.

Careers

Speaking more than one language can set you apart in today’s global job market. It increases your marketability and opportunities for career advancement and promotion. Multilingual professionals can communicate with a larger population, increase an employer’s competitive edge and contribute to diversity in a workplace.

Additionally, studying a language and its culture can help you develop empathy and global thinking. It can broaden your perspective and help you cultivate a greater understanding of people and, in turn, the world. The critical skills gained from learning a foreign language are directly applicable to today’s rapidly diversifying world and can be used across all fields and disciplines.

The Spanish BA prepares students for professional roles in several global industries, including

  • business,
  • education,
  • government,
  • international relations,
  • public health and
  • social services.
