Theater Scholarships & Awards
The School of Theater, Film & Media Arts gives several awards to undergraduate students at the end of each academic year, unless the particular scholarship specifies another date of notification. Students must apply for the awards and the number of awards may vary from year to year. Awards and scholarships range from $500 to $2,000. Scholarships include the following opportunities.
- The Alan Kosher Fund Scholarship provides financial support for an undergraduate Theater major to participate in a one-week internship or job shadowing a union manager of a first-class theatrical touring production.
- The Kunal Nayyar and Neha Kapur Scholarships provides two $10,000 annual scholarships for junior or senior acting students in the Theater Department who have demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students who attended urban public schools.
- The Kunal Nayyar and Neha Kapur Travel Awards is an annual fund that provides the Theater Department with $5,000 each fall semester to support theater students’ travel and fees for events intended to further their education, such as graduate school auditions, showcases, festivals and educational conferences.
- The Paul Ryan Hutton Memorial Award is a fund for a sophomore, junior or, in an exceptional case, a senior Theater major who has at least two semesters of coursework remaining. Applicants should have a good academic record and plan for a career in theater. The award provides funds to assist the student in completing an internship, designed for gaining practical theater experience prior to graduation.
- The Paul E. Randall Memorial Scholarship provides a tuition-remission scholarship to a student who has demonstrated talent in an area of theater study and who has financial need.
