Computer & Information Sciences Research Centers
The Computer and Information Sciences Department is supported by leading research and technology at Temple’s centers and institutes.
- Center for Networked Computing, which investigates cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, high-performance computing, routing protocols and sensor networks.
- Center for Data Analytics and Biomedical Informatics, which focuses on information management, retrieval and analysis, as well as data mining, databases and web search solutions.
- Owl’s Nest 2, which provides an ultrafast, high-performance computing cluster with the combined power of 1,500 typical desktop computers.

Carnegie Classification
The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education lists Temple University as an R1 institution for “highest research activity,” placing it among the top 4% of all four-year institutions in the United States.
